A little bummed here.....

Hi friends!

I finally got on the blogs for a bit. Still have many to read to catch up. I'm sorry I haven't been around. I had the weirdest thing happen to me since my dental crown prep was done March 1st and I have been in a bit of a depression about it. It seems that since I had my temporary crown placed, I have no taste sensation. I cant taste anything but VERY salty things, and I mean VERY salty! Not a good thing for the BP. Glad I don't have issues there. I have had a horrible bitter/metallic taste in my mouth for almost 2 weeks now & its getting old. I so desperately just want a taste of something sweet but whenever I try, it has no taste whatsoever and then my mouth gets such a horrible bitter taste, it just isn't worth it. I have called my dentist twice and he is baffled. I am hoping that once the permanent crown is placed on Thurs that things will go back to normal....I am hopeful .It is making me feel very despondent that I will never taste again. I made an appt with a Ear, nose & throat specialist for Monday and hopefully he can help. I cant imagine living my life like this with no taste.

Weigh loss has been very slow lately. I want to get into the 160s (169) by Easter. I am about 5# away. Not being able to taste has made it more challenging to stay on plan.

I have to pick my daughter up from soccer so I must sign off for now. Hope you are all well. I do miss you all and will get around to responding to your blogs.  I promise.

Hugs
Sherri

  1. I am so sorry about what happened. I have never heard of that happening to anyone before, but it does sound like it came from the dentist. Go back and make him pull off the temp. and look.

I hope it will just all go back to normal when you wake up in the morning. Keep us informed. :-)

    1. No. I dont like pine nuts. THis all happened right after the novacaine wore off. I thought it was just the novacaine altering my taste but it hasnt been right since he numbed me. I am very very upset as the days pass as tomorrow it will be 2 weeks. Praying that I will get my taste back soon. It is so depressing and scary.

    2. Hmmm, you haven't had pesto sauce lately either? I'm just hoping to find you an answer that you can feel confident will clear up with time. There have been a lot of people who have had this same experience after eating pine nuts that came from other countries.

Whatever the reason, I hope it clears up quickly.

  3. That's just awful! I have never heard of that before. Is the dentist being helpful? My husband gets his permanent crown on the 22nd. He hasn't had any issues. I'm so sorry! I can't imagine not having taste for things.
You will get back to yourself when you can feel good about the food that you are eating again. I will pray for you to get your taste back! Keep us updated?

  5. Sherri, sorry to hear about not being able to taste anything. I wonder if it could be from the injection hitting on a nerve or something. I hope you find the answer soon I know having a cold and not being able to taste anything is miserable. Please keep us updated.

  7. Feel better Sherri! I think it's normal to get in a funk this time of year. We are ready for summer and sun :) I think it really helps to set some goals and visualize them to lose those next 5 lbs. You can do this girl!!

  8. Sherri that's terrible!! It must be awful to not be able to taste! I have never heard of that happening with a dental procedure before - but these days it seems like anything could happen. Have you done a goggle search to see if anyone else has had the problem and what they've done about it? I sure hope your dentist can come up with a solution for you.
On another note..only five pounds away from getting into the 160's is great! I think you can get there by Easter!!

  9. Hi Sherri. Thanks for posting on my blog. I get the posts delivered to my email, but couldn't respond because it was a no reply email. I'm so sorry about what's going on with you. My good friend lost her sense of smell and they never figured out why. I hope it resolves. I miss you, but I know what you are saying about not feeling like blogging. I'm that way too right now. So busy. But I do miss my cyber friends. Sending love and hugs!
