Thurs C1D4

Hi again!

Just a quick update! Its day 4 of Cycle 1 and I am down another pound today for a total of 3.5# since Monday March 3rd. I'm pleased with that and am doing well on it so far. I did have 2 lean burgers for dinner tonight on a no carb egg roll (aka oopsie roll that you make with egg & cream cheese) I was hungry when I got home from work so I did have a couple handfuls of almonds too while grilling up the burgers to tide me over, but I did not touch the fries I made for the family and that was a great victory. Normally, I would have a bunch of fries too and then pick at the leftovers.
So anyways, there's my quick update. Will keep you posted.
Thanks for reading and for your comments!

Cycle 1, Day 3

Hello friends!

Well, so far so good! I'm on Day 3 of Cycle 1 of the 17 day diet and all is going well. 2 weeks left to go. I am amazed at how much better I am feeling already. My belly isn't as bloated and I don't have the carb & sugar cravings. I got on the scale this morning and I am down 2.5#. Yippee!!! It's all good!

Today is Ash Wednesday. If you are catholic, its the first day of Lent. I usually give up diet soda but this year I am not going to eat junk food and stick to my 17DD regimen for 40 days. My hope is to be down 20# by Easter. I believe I can do it.... so stay tuned!!

For those of you who aren't familiar with the 17 day diet, Cycle 1 is the strictest cycle. It is a detox cycle to help rid your body of sugar & carbs. You are permitted to eat unlimited lean meats chicken, fish, turkey & eggs. You are also allowed unlimited cleansing vegetables, most of them are low carb varieties. You are permitted 2 fruit serving/day (berries, peaches, oranges & apples  etc) both must be eaten before 2pm, as well as 2 probiotic servings (yogurt, live active cottage cheese, etc) and 1-2 Tablespoons of healthy fats such as olive oil or flaxseed oil. No "bread" carbs until Cycle 2. On Cycle 2 you get to add in lean beef, shrimp & pork as well as 2 "bread carbs" per day. You alternate a C1 day with a C2 day for the entire 17 days of C2. Have I confused you?? I hope not. Its really not that difficult, once you read the book but it is supposed to confuse your metabolism which is a good thing. Very few plateaus. I needed to shake things up and this plan does work well for me.

I hope you are all well. Thanks to Kay & Rosalie for your support & comments!

Have a great day!!

A new month and a new beginning!

Good morning friends!

I'm back!!! Well, looks like I done a real doozie to myself  and I have gained about 20# back from my lowest weight. It is so disheartening because I feel like I have been at this for such a long time, but truth be told, my heart hasn't been in it for quite some time, and I honestly don't know why. I feel like I am obsessed with losing weight but I haven't done anything about it....and I'm still going to Weight Watchers!! I'm almost embarrassed to even be sitting there because its been 3 years now and I am gaining weight but I have met some wonderful friends there and they have been great support to me so I plan to continue to go. My middle sister Chris reached her goal last August. She looks great and she is very inspiring. She lives the plan, every day. Something I haven't done. I live the plan Monday - Friday and have taken the weekends off. Been doing this for a long time. Guess what Sher....How's that been working for ya?? Ummm....not so good! So its time to pull up the bootstraps once again and get back on the horse!!

So, I'm back and I'm ready to give it my best! With Lent starting on Wednesday, I wanted to do something that was a true sacrifice & challenge. For the last 3 years, I have given up diet pop/soda. This year, I have decided to do something a little different. If you remember., last year I did a diet called "The 17 Day Diet" by Dr Mike Moreno. It is a healthy diet plan with rapid results when you follow the program correctly. The best part is, even though I had only lost 12# I looked like I had lost more. I wasn't bloated, I lost 3 inches off my belly and people really noticed the change in me. So my plan is to follow the 17dd "Full out", no cheating starting today and through Easter. You may be thinking, "Sherri, that's just not right" but I think this is what I need to turn myself around and get back on track. The first 2 cycles are challenging but once you get into the groove of it, its actually pretty easy to do. The hardest part is not cheating, as is with any plan.

The 17 Day Diet consists of (4) 17 day cycles. Cycle 1 (C1) is the strictest but it is where you are detoxing from sugar and carbs for the first 17 days.  I have found C1 to be the most rewarding as you feel great on it and you consistently lose weight and you can not only feel the difference but you can SEE the difference! There are 3 more 17 day cycles. I wont elaborate on them now but I will as I go along. So today is Day 1 of Cycle 1 (D1C1) and I'm ready!! I just weighed in....its ugly! I'm not posting my weight but I will post my losses.

I hope you will join me these next 43 days and beyond. My daughter graduates from High School on June 11th and I don't want to hide from the camera. I want to be happy with myself, and how I look and feel. Right now, I feel miserable that I have allowed myself to gain back 20# of the over 40# that I had lost. No more beating myself up though. Its time to forgive myself and move on! Today is a new day....the slate is wiped clean!

Have a wonderful day!!!

Happy April!

Hello friends!
I know its been a while.....as usual, no excuses. Just busy here! Just wanted to share a quick update with you all on how the 17 day diet is going. I am on Cycle 3 where I get to add in more foods and I can enjoy my 2 carb servings anytime of the day, & not just before 2pm. I will be on C3 until April 20th & I have to say, I LOVE cycle 3!!! Omg!! To have a piece of Trader Joe's sprouted wheat toast again was noting short of DIVINE!!! I went 34 days without a piece of bread or toast and although it was challenging at times, for the most part, it wasn't that bad. The cravings for sweets are pretty much gone and I feel as though my carbs are under control. Its a good feeling. So in a synopsis, I am on day 39 of eating this way and I am down about 12#. It has been a slow process but I have gone from 185.5 to 173.5 (on Saturday). I took my measurements and I have lost about 3" from my belly & waist. I'm pleased with the progress so far & its actually not been bad at all. I'm hoping to be at 169 by the end of April. I think I can do it! I'm ready to be in a size 12!

I'm tired tonight so I am off to get showered and then heading to bed. Just thought I would drop in and say hello.

Hope you are all doing well.... :)
Hugs!!

Consistently losing....life is Good!!!

Hello ladies!

I know I haven't posted in awhile, so I thought I would throw in a quick update for you all to let you know how things are going with me on the 17 Day Diet. So far, so good! I finished my first cycle on St. Patrick's Day and was down about 6# for the whole cycle. I went about a week with no losses, then started Cycle 2 and boom, lost about 1#/ day for 3 days straight. So my total is very close to 9# right now. It may seem slow to some, but for me, this is the most I have lost in a year! I feel really good and my clothes & tummy feel better & less puffy. I want to be down a full 10# by Easter & I think its possible. 10# in a month.....crazy!!

My sister is down about 8.5# this month and we are both getting used to eating this way. No fruit or carbs after 2pm while at first was challenging, is becoming habit now and I am getting used to not eating carbs at dinner. I still miss it sometimes though. I wont lie. I joined planet fitness last Friday and have only had the opportunity to go once but its a nice place & they have alot of machines which is great. I'm hoping that will help accelerate my weight loss, but I guess I need to go, huh? lol! Tomorrow after work is my plan. I had a dentist appt today & errands to run, then meeting my sisters for dinner at Ruby Tuesdays (salad bar) and we are taking a mesh wreath making class. I'm not crafty at all so this should be interesting! haha!

Hope you are all doing well. If I don't post again before the 31st, Have a wonderful Easter!

Wednesday Update...things are going great!

Hello friends!

Just a quick post to update you all on how things are going here. I am excited to report that I am down 5# already!!! woo hoo!!! I think I got on the scale 10x this morning because I couldn't believe it! My sister is down 3# & is on day 4 and I am on day 6. I fell hopeful that this may be the answer for me. I hope it is. It hasn't been bad at all. There is alot of prep work to do so I am cooking alot more, but if it helps me to lose 1#/day I will cook like a crazy woman! lol.I don't mind and with my sister doing this with me, we have been helping each other emotionally and with food prep. She works full time & I work part time so I have a little more time for the food prep than she does so today I shared with her some oopsie rolls & some apple flax protein muffins. The muffins are fabulous!!!

So I encourage you to give this a try if you want to try something new that is not only safe & healthy & created by a Dr., but its also pretty easy to follow. I am going to post the recipe for the apple flax muffins. They are soooo good with a little natures hollow peach jam on top! Heavenly!!!

Hope all is well with you girls! Happy Hump day!!!

A quick little update.... Monday Edition

Hello to all my wonderful blogger friends!

You girls are just the best! Thanks for being so kind & not saying I'm a messed up cotton headed ninnymonger who has no direction in her dieting life .(Like Will Farrell said in the movie Elf)  LOL!
I want to read each of your blogs and am sorry I haven't had a chance to yet but I will get there. Thanks to Dawn, Rosalie, Pattie, Kay, Katie, Beth and oh shoot I am missing one more person......oh forgive me, I just cant think of it at the moment but thank you all for your comments. :)

So I wanted to give you all an update on how things are going. I started 17DD on Friday March 1st and I am happy to report, so far so good! I have been following and am starting to find my groove with it & am liking it. as of this morning, I am down 3#. Yay!!! I am hoping to lose 10# in Cycle 1 which will end on March 17th. Most people lose between 10-15# in Cycle 1. I think if I lost 15#, I would seriously faint! My sister and I have been really struggling on WW and I talked with her on the phone on Sat and she also decided to do it with me so she is on Day 2 & was down 1# as of this morning. She and I got together on Saturday & did some prep work for the week. We made turkey chili (that might I add was fabulous!), we made protein poppers (lemon & chocolate) that are like little bite size cakes that are made with protein powder &They are really yummy and we also made the mock egg rolls for sandwiches. Shes not crazy about them but I actually like them alot. I love spending time with my sister and she is really one of my best friends. We have both come so far with our weight loss and I told her "we can do this...we can do anything for 17 days". Her birthday is March 23rd & she will be 50. She wants to be down 10# by her birthday as it will take her into a new decade of weight. She is so pretty & has a personality & a smile that is infectious.I pray that she hangs in there. I am going to continue to do my very best but need to add in that darned exercise component to get things moving but I am just so darned tired after work its the last thing I want to do. I need to start slow, maybe 5-10 mins at a time.

Well, thanks for listening. I will keep you all posted on my progress.
Hugs to you all!!
