Good morning friends!
Well, I wrote that last post on Monday & started my day off well with a low sugar, low carb breakfast. As the day progressed, I found that I really wanted my yogurt, and a piece of fruit. I had a talk with myself and decided that I probably made a rash decision to follow BFC again. It just isn't for me & I know in my heart, it could never be a lifestyle for me. Please don't think I'm a nutcase here. I have been so "all over the place" in my thoughts about what to do and it has been making me crazy that I cant seem to make a decision about what plan I would like to follow. Sigh...its rough being a Libra! lol. But I know with out a doubt, cutting out fruit & yogurt for me isn't the answer.
So anyways, let me tell you what happened to me the other day and you will understand why I decided to go a different route. I was at work on Wed and was in our pain clinic. As I was admitting this lady, and I asked her to verify her height & weight. She said her height & her weight was 142. Then she said to me "I wouldn't be this weight if it weren't for the 17 Day Diet". Whoa!! That was the other plan I was teetering over! So we got to talking and she told me her story and how she had lost 42# and her husband has lost 60# in 4 MONTHS!!! Holy cow!! She said she has started the diet last year with her husband and that she has been on every diet known to man and this diet was the easiest with the most rapid results. I did this plan last August and on the first 17 day cycle lost about 10#, which was great. I did not follow through with Cycle 2, don't ask me why because I should have. Anyways, the more I got to talking to her, the more I started to think that perhaps God placed this woman in my path for a reason. EVERYONE is placed in our paths for a reason but I really feel she was divinely placed for me. The ironic thing about it was, SHE told me that she felt that I was put into her path for a reason. I cant describe it, but I walked away from Work on Wed with more clarity than I have had in a really long time. She told me to read the book again (17 day diet by Dr. Mike Moreno) and I did. I decided that on March 1st I would start and promised myself that I would not cheat & would be true to the plan....100%. If you aren't familiar with the diet, it is actually pretty simple. There are 4 cycles, each of them last 17 days. You start on Cycle 1 that has no "bread" carbs but you can eat unlimited lean proteins, vegetables, 2 servings of low sugar fruits eaten by 2 pm and not after, 2 servings of healthy oils (up to 2 T./daily) and 2 servings of probiotic rich dairy like yogurt. after the first cycle you go on to Cycle 2 & 3 where you get to add additional foods. Cycle 4 is a maintenance plan when you reach your goal weight. This plan is much more "up my alley" and I know that it is very successful and is in more alignment with my beliefs & thinking. So this is what I am doing right now. Hope you don't think I'm crazy. I'm really not. Just been a wandering mess for months and really need to shake things up again and get going. Spring & summer are right around the corner and i DO NOT want to wear a size 14 of anything this summer. I want to be a 10 and I WILL get there!
Thanks for listening. I will keep you all posted.
((Sherri))
You can do it Sherri. I have been all over the place too. I know I eat too many sugars and carbs so sometimes I think BFC or Atkins is for me. And then I go back to Weight Watchers because it's what I know and have done. We will find our way!
ReplyDeleteYou are not crazy! You have to do what feels right and do a plan that you agree with wholeheartedly, or you will fail. You can do it!!
ReplyDeleteSherri, I agree that you should go back to this. I believe in divine intervention. I'm am always hoping for some myself!. I know for me personally, fighting cravings and always feeling hungry is what usually does me in. I think, again for me personally, when I get too much sugar, be it from yogurt, fruit or anywhere else it sets me up later, maybe a day or two later to have some sort of eating binge. I like how the 17 day diet talks about eating low sugar fruits and limiting them. That is one concept I believe in. Alot of people give me a hard time saying that fruit is good for you and you should eat as much as you want. I believe, like Jorge says, that it is natures dessert, and you don't eat dessert all day long, but in moderation. So I say do what feels right to you. Ironically I bought that book awhile back, but like many of my purchases, I don't end up following through. Just please stay on the blogs and let us know how you are doing. On another note, I think I told you my husband is an anesthesiologist, but does interventional pain management full time now. We have three offices, and one day a week he is at a surgery center. The other two OR days are in the hospital SPU. A lot of our patients are overweight and you know that causes all kinds of pain issues with the back and spine. I bet you are a wonderful nurse. I HATE to tell people my weight. I have a complete meniscus tear right now and need a arthroscopy. I dread going because I don't want to say my weight!! Crazy right??? Sending hugs and love, and positive wishes that you found your answer!! XO
ReplyDeleteI think we all have to do what is best for us. She was there for a reason and I know you can do it. Just keep bloggin.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day :-)
Hang in there Sherri, I know you can find your groove.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you are crazy, I think you are being smart about what you are capable of doing. Just like I finally went back to white bread:)
ReplyDeleteI totally think people are put in our paths for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. There have been so many people in my life like that, that just help answer questions without even knowing they did.
I wish you the best and I truly know you can do it if you set your mind to it. You will be thin for summer...BELIEVE it!
Hi Sherri, I can really relate to your struggle to find the right way of eating. I seem to permanently stuck at twenty pounds overweight! I HAVE that book "The 17 Day Diet" and thought it sounded like good advice. It's actually similar to the BFC. Let us know how it works for you. I believe you can get down to a size 10 by summer if you stick with it!
