Happy Friday!

Good morning friends!

Its a snowy morning here in PA and we are anticipating more cold & snow over the weekend. We've been lucky to have such a mild winter so far and to see this snow it does finally feel like January. I don't mind the snow, just the long winters. In my old age, I am going to move somewhere warm....just sayin.

So enough about the weather. It seems I have been bitten by the nasty cold bug and its going on a week now. Ive had the runny nose, sneezing & plugged nose & ears & a sore throat. No fun and yuck! Thank goodness I am finally feeling better. I'm not a good sick person & my hubby doesn't want to get near me. HAHA! Cracks me up...he isn't a germaphobe but when I get sick, he just about quarantines himself from me. I have lost my taste buds with this cold so food just isn't enjoyable, which really stinks. I have been eating homemade chicken barley soup that I made on Sunday and that has been soothing to the throat and I am drinking lots of water and taking Mucinex D which might I add is a Godsend!

On the weight front, things looked good on the scale this morning. I never know what WW scale will say but I am thinking I am definitely down at least a pound. I always hope for more though. If you remember, I have been doing the Simply Filling technique but with the cold, I have deviated somewhat and have eaten some processed things this week but all in all, things have been good. I went to Barnes & Noble yesterday and bought Jorge's new book that Rosalie is in. It pretty much is a review of BFC & the quick meals are a nice reference for low sugar alternatives when dining out. I am trying to make better choices & eating lower sugar things. I do whole heartedly believe in the sugar/fat storage thinking. I wish that I were more disciplined to do the BFC all the time and I applaud all of you who have adopted it as your lifestyle. As we have said before, it doesn't matter what plan you are following. If you are seeing results and feel it is something you can sustain for life, then that is the best plan for you. Although my weight loss has been slow, WW is the best plan for me and is easily adaptable to my busy life. I have tried I believe EVERY diet known to man and this one has been the one that I have had the greatest success at, so I am just going to keep on keepin on! :)

I've been having problems posting comments on your blogs. I will get a comment all typed up and then I hit publish and it bleeps it away. It is very frustrating and I am wondering if that is happening to any of you? I have read your blogs girls and if you don't see a comment from me now you know why. I hope this is a temporary thing. A note to Pattie~ You are in my thoughts & prayers daily. Praying for your peace my friend.

So with it being a cold snowy day, my plans are to do a little cleaning. Not that I WANT to, but the ole ponderosa is in need of a good scrubbin! I hope you all have a great day today and a wonderful weekend!

Sherri

  1. I have to do all my blogging to you all via Google Chrome...if I don't it does the same thing as you're experiencing.
I'm glad to hear you're 'fighting' off that bug. It does stink to be sick.
One lb at a time, right! We're doing it.

  2. I'm sorry you are sick:( That isn't fun at all. You sound upbeat and happy with how you are doing. It's funny to think back to the pre Holiday posts and we were all so worried about how we were going to do. Well look at us now! We survived!
I hope you see more than a lb on the scale at WW!
Have a great weekend. We haven't had snow to speak of. 2 years ago we had record snowfall. It has been nice, but I still don't trust we won't be inundated!

  3. I'm kind of like your hubby, when mine is sick - I am like - don't touch me and don't touch anything I touch. LOL
I think I have met more people successful on WW then the BFC. Don't know why?
Great job on the lb and I know tomorrow your weigh-in will be great :-)

  4. Hi Sherri,

I follow the Simply Filling plan as well, but I don't bother to add up the "extra" points. Since I mostly eat whole, healthy foods, as long as I'm losing or maintaining, I don't worry about the points. If I flat out stall, I'll probably start checking my points again to see where the hang-up is.

Have you bought the new Power Foods cookbook? Oh my gosh! As you can tell by the title, the recipes are built around healthy power foods, and can I tell you, the recipes look and sound delish!!! I couldn't leave the meeting without buying one and I have several recipes marked to try in the next couple of weeks. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out at your next meeting. Good luck with your weigh-in this week!

    1. Wow, no I havent seen that cookbook. Let me know how the recipes are. I have a zillion cookbooks and lots from WW. Is the SF the way you lost your weight?

    2. Well, I lost most of my weight before joining WW. I joined WW once I started gaining some of the weight back and realized that I needed real life support and accountability. When I first joined WW, I tracked my points so that I could get an idea of how much food I needed to eat and once I got my portions back under control, I started following the SF plan, because SF is how I eat most of the time anyhow, so it's just an overall better fit for me, and less time consuming.

  5. Sherri, sorry to hear you are sick. I had that nasty bug and it lasted for ever but I agree about the mucinex...works wonders. I have thought about rejoining WW since I loved all the support there. But I just ordered Nutrisystem. I have tried it before and it works and it is easy for my busy lifestyle. Hope you feel better soon and have a great weigh in.

    1. Maybe once you've gotten your jump start with Nutrisystem, you can then join WW, especially if the support and accountability of the meetings is a key element that you are needing. The new WW program does have a lot of tips, ideas, and recipes for a busy lifestyle. You would love their e-tools that they now have.

    2. Diana!! Good to hear from you girl!! If Nutrisystem will give you the jumpstart you need, then thats a good thing. We all need a catalyst to get us going. Sad to say my catalyst was depression and alot of personal tragedy but I have grown immensely from it and it was unfortunately what I needed to get the ball rolling. Now if the dang ball would quit rolling backwards & start rolling forward, I would be a happy camper!!! Good luck to you!
      xoxo You can do it!

    3. Thanks for the support, so far so good I am back on the losing track like I needed. I know part of it is a mental thing for me that I am having to work on. This year has to be the year for me.

  7. Hi Sherri, Hope you feel better soon also! I've never tried Mucinex D, I'm usually a Nyquil/Dayquil kind of person. I'll have to jot that down for the next cold! I'm going to have to look up the Simply Filling plan and see if I can incorporate it into the BFC somehow to get me losing again. I need to shake things up. Glad to hear the scale is still moving for you! Every pound lost is a pound closer to our goal!

    1. Beth, I feel so frustrated!! I feel like I have been gaining & losing the same 5# since Oct & I am sick of it!!! Part of me wants to try the BFC all out for one week to see if that gets things going but then a part of me tells myself to have faith in the plan & just keep going. I feel torn. Cant wait to get over this cold so I can get back to the gym! Its been a week already. We will get there girl! I think that pulling teeth sometimes may be easier though.

  8. Hi Sherri, that's awesome how weight watchers works for you. I think we need to find our own path. I feel your pain. I've been about the same for about the last 6 weeks. Our household and I have been sick too and I haven't worked out, can't wait to get back. A big *high five* from me to you that we have losses this week.
