Good morning! Sunday Nov 20, 2011

Hello friends!

Tell me, where has November gone? I feel like i have lost this month, weight loss wise & it is making me kinda sad. I feel like this past week was so challenging for me to stick to my WW plan & I am up a couple of pounds as a result. (sigh) My sisters and I went to a craft show in Cleveland, OH yesterday so I didn't get a chance to weigh in & go to my WW meeting, which I really missed. I love my friends there & the support I receive from my leader Pam & the receptionist Nancy. They are gems!! I am back on the wagon today after a very long week. I feel unfocused & I'm not sure why. I think its the upcoming  holidays. I am stressed out that just about every Friday in December, I have a Christmas party to go to. The stressful part is, I have my weigh in on Sat. mornings. This week I have to contend with thanksgiving, which because my sister, me & my dad are all following it, we are making it "ww friendly" so I'm not too worried about that. Next Fri (Dec 2nd) I have a Xmas party at our medical directors home which will be a food & drink fest I'm sure. I don't want to be anti social & not go but I don't want to eat all of that fattening food either. I am not working that day so I plan to weigh in at WW Friday am instead of my usual Saturday morning & I will just sit in on the meeting at my usual time. It will make going to the party more enjoyable for me as I know I am going to want to have a drink & perhaps a few appetizers. I think I am going to take a fruit tray as my contribution. Then I have another party on Dec 16th that is our formal work Christmas party. It is at a very nice hotel & is dinner & dancing so I plan to go to that & just not weigh in on Saturday morning, unless I can swing something with my boss where I can weigh in on Friday morning before coming to work. Can you believe that I am stressing so badly over all of this? Oy!! Starting in December, pretty much every day is booked by surgeons that we work with where they have lunch catered in. I have to say, I'm not too worried about that because I did just fine with it last year. I am just stressed about the parties more than anything. I don't want to allow December to go to the wayside with my weight loss efforts so I need to have a plan in place & ready to execute. What do you girls think? Any suggestions on a good way to handle all these festivities?? All feedback is appreciated!

So I had something really nice happen to me this week & I am going to share it with you. On Monday, I had to pick my daughter up from school for an orthodontist appt. When I went in to sign her out, the school secretary said to me that her daughter Elaina saw me at church the day before & said  "Boy Mrs Lojewski has lost a lot of weight!" . Totally made my day! Although I feel like I am at a standstill with my weight loss (my fault as I haven't been as focused) it is so wonderful to have positive feedback from people that they can see a difference. I would like to get into the 160s by the end of the year and although its not looking too promising at the moment, I know that come the new year I will be so much happier ringing in the new year almost 50# lighter. Its a great feeling & I never ever want to weigh over 200# again!!!

  1. I know that made you feel so great to hear that. It makes it feel a little more like it has all been worth it.
    I don't want you to worry about any of that party stuff. That's just dumb. Just know that you are going to be good and stick to your guns. Just remember to pick one thing that you really, really want and have 2-3 bites then that's it.

  2. I am totally with Rosalie! Don't fill up on all the so/so things and then break down and eat all of the things you want. They you have all of the so/so points and calories adding to the 2-3 bites of the things that you really want! If you eat your favorite things, you will leave happy!!! I think so many times we have something that we really want, and we eat 100's of calories trying to get past that desire, and then we eat what we wanted in the first place! Double points:(
    You are a social butterfly and you will be beautiful all through this Holiday season! You have come so far in a year. Just think, even at your current pace, by this time next year you could be at your goal. This year has literally flown by!

    Try to eat what you love, not what you think you should....all in moderation! That's why I love the BFC so much. I can eat EVERYTHING I love, in moderation! Well, except sweets! But I am working on some new ideas!

  3. Hi Sherri. I totally understand how you feel. I think that's what makes the BFC easier to follow than WW. WW lets you eat whatever you want if you count the points. There are some things I know I just cannot eat. I have to watch the calories/points too, but I know I just can't have sweets or I go overboard. Also the breads, I really have to watch them. The nice thing is with the BFC you can have dips and cheeses and such. I know you are on WW, but following some of the BFC ways. Maybe just for the month, really go back to the BFC basics..no sugar, artificial sweetneners, only whole grains. Still count your points, but keep everything else within those 15/6 sugar carbs. It is a bit more work, but it might help set better limits for you. I know Rosalie always says have 2-3 bites and then stop. That is a great idea, but there are some things I cannot stop at, and if you are that way, I wouldn't even go there. Also, just look at one event at a time. You are trying to look at the big picture for the whole month, but one day at a time will seem more manageable. When you get through one thing, then think about the next. You will do fine, I know it.   4. Can you bring your own treats to the party? Otherwise, i agree with eating what you want. Don't feel like you have to try everything. Pick what you like the best and Just Have That.

  5. So much fun to be had. I love the holidays too-but sometimes realize we try to do so much good with in 6 wks. of the year...we need to spread it out some :)
    You're going to make lots of good choices-I just know it! You have a lot of support all around you. Whatever you decide to eat-savor it-one bite or two.

  6. Yay on the compliment! I agree with the idea of bringing your own dish/dessert that you really would like to have. That way you know it's healthy, and you will know what the points per serving is if you plug the recipe into the WW recipe builder. Healthy Indulgences, Chocolate Covered Katie, and Nourishing Flourishing are all good blogs for finding healthy dessert recipes.

  7. Yikes, that is a lot of parties to worry about! I think I would try to nurse a drink and stick with the veggie platter (there is usually one of those there right?). I would LOVE to get the "you've lost a lot of weight" compliment! You know its real when it comes from the kids - they're so honest! You'll be in the 160's before you know it!

  8. When others notice your weight loss it is so motivating! So many don't say anything, so you really appreciate when they do! I would nurse a drink, like Beth says. Maybe fill it half way with water at some point. I hate it when ppl just fill up your glass everytime you turn around! I know they are trying to be nice, but you can't keep track.

  10. Sherri, I know how you feel party here and party there food here and food there. Boy the holidays can be stressful but you have all the tools and you are looking so hot girl I know you will be okay. Even if you have a slip here or there I know you will get right back on track. Happy Thanksgiving and I am glad that your family is on plan to make things WW friendly for you.

  11. I would definitely have a healthy snack before going to the party. Oh and have a plan of what your going to eat and don't deviate from it. I would 1st try to fill up on the healthy stuff, a little fruit, a lot of veggies, and some lean protein. Then after that if you think you have to have something else, you may not want anything, pick just one thing and have a small portion. I'd also make sure for at least 2 - 3 days leading up to the party you're within your points allowance plus you've exercised. Follow this and I think you'll lose weight. Nothing to worry about. If you feel weak call me really, 919-800-9452. I don't think I'm busy any Friday night in December.
